The Traditionalist School

dossier · 2026-08-21

A school that begins with one claim, that the modern world is decline rather than progress. Rene Guenon (1886 to 1951) built the metaphysics and died a Sufi in Cairo; Julius Evola (1898 to 1974) radicalized it in his Revolt Against the Modern World (Milan, 1934), lent his name to an Italian edition of the Protocols while in the same preface rejecting fanatical anti-Semitism and monocausal blame, worked at the edge of an SS that would not have his ideas, and was paralyzed in the ruins of Vienna in 1945. The school survived in print through Inner Traditions (Rochester, Vermont, 1975) and the Italian publisher Claudio Mutti. Around it has grown the claim that it secretly steers the modern far right; the documented sources for the school do not establish that, and this account stops where the evidence stops.
